Dr. John Kling II, DDS, MAGD
General Dentist
Dr. Kling has had a lifelong passion for science and the arts so a career in dentistry seemed liked a perfect way to intertwine these two disciplines. He choose to attend Case Western Reserve University school of Dental Medicine (CWRU) in Cleveland, Ohio. CRWU has always had the reputation of being one of the most respected schools in the country for both clinical education and for being on the forefront of the latest technological advances. Subsequent to his graduation from dental school in 1984, Dr. Kling completed a general practice residency at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, New York. This one-year residency program was invaluable for Dr. Kling because he was able to refine his clinical expertise while gaining extensive knowledge in a variety of dental and medical issues. Furthermore, he was able to work side by side with some of the most outstanding dentists in the country.
While the experience in dental school and the residency program formed a very solid professional foundation, Dr. Kling has continued to broaden his expertise with a seemingly insatiable desire to participate in continuing education. Since his graduation from dental school, Dr. Kling has completed 2000 hours of advanced dental education. The cornerstone of this expansion in Dr. Kling’s knowledge started at the L.D. Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida. The institute was conceived in 1969 and the first classes started in 1972. Dr. Pankey was a pioneer in dental education and the foundation of his message was the combination of exquisite technical skill of the dentist and the relationship built between the dentist and patients. Dr. Kling has completed over 300 hours of education and training at the Pankey Institute.
Dr. Kling has continued his pursuit for knowledge at some of the finest learning centers in the world. Three in particular stand out- The Louisiana State University (LSU), the Eubank Institute, and the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study. He completed both of the strenuous cosmetic continuums at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. The knowledge gained at LSU allowed Dr. Kling to further expand his clinical skills in cosmetic dentistry as well as treating complex bite issues. His advanced study at the Eubank Institute and the Dawson Academy afforded Dr. Kling the opportunity to learn and work with some of the “true masters” in the field of dentistry.
Dr. Kling is an active member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Virginia Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental society, and the Alexandria Dental Society where he previously served as president. As an active community member, Dr. Kling also belongs to the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, the Alexandria Rotary Club, was the former chair of the Alexandria Public Health Advisory Commission and was involved with the Give Back A Smile Program, providing local individuals with reconstructive dentistry after domestic abuse.

What Our Clients Have To Say About Us
XCase Study #1

Case Study #1
The patient presented with concerns about the appearance of his maxillary anterior teeth. Specifically, he was unhappy about the wear, staining and breakdown of his older resin restorations. Proper data collection was rendered including; radiographs, diagnostic models and facebow mounted on a semi-adjustable articulator. Further, his soft tissue exam revealed mild gingivitis, especially in the mandibular incisor region. We discussed a treatment plan and agreed we would move forward with direct resin veneers #5-12– we commenced with in office whitening of his mandibular arch and his subsequent treatment included; occlusal equilibration, gingival recontouring in the #5-#12 positions, direct resins and finally impressions for fabrication of max/mand nightguards to protect his new smile. After 50+ chairside hours, the patient was extremely pleased with results!

Case Study #2
The patient presented with concerns about the appearance of her maxillary anterior teeth. Specifically, the patient had a history of having Lumineers placed on teeth #5-#12 and in some areas, were 5mm thick thus making it both aesthetically and functionally unpleasant to the patient. Further, the patient had irritation with her upper lip and sensitivity in many of these teeth. Upon review of her photographic facial images, it was revealed the patient’s left eye is higher than the right eye so her inter-pupillary line is not horizontal thus confirming the inter-pupillary line could not be used as the model for horizontal position of the incisal edges of the patient’s anterior teeth. In order to prevent fabricating restorations in a canted position, complete diagnostic work up was done including; radiographs (transcranial and panoramic film), multiple facial images, analog impressions for fabrication of full arch models and thorough examination of soft tissue. The patient agreed to treatment and was sent to a specialist to proceed with gingival recontouring in the #5-#12 areas in order to idealize the gingival symmetry. After healing, we moved forward with core build-ups and e-max crowns on #5 & #12 and e-max porcelain laminate veneers for teeth #6-#11. Patient was extremely pleased with the outcome!
